The time, the time, the time... I get a perverse pleasure from inputting times such as :76 or 1:92 into the microwave oven and watching it successfully countdown. Re: The time, the time, the time... 08 August 2005 07:36 XathienIt just blinks if I put a time greater than 59 for the seconds and waits for me to input somethinf valid. Re: Re: The time, the time, the time... 08 August 2005 14:57 Michael VincentThen what a boring microwave you have :) Re: Re: Re: The time, the time, the time... 08 August 2005 22:30 XathienI dunno. That blinking can be kind of nice sometimes. It's like... hypnotic. Oh my gosh. 10 August 2005 13:57 Dexter345I do the same thing. Except if I were to put in 1:92 I think my microwave would assume that's 192 seconds, not one minute and ninety two seconds.
(Have I ever mentioned how I wish time were metric?) Re: Oh my gosh. 22 August 2005 15:52 slimey_limeyAround the French Revolution, when the metric system was invented, they also invented "metric time":
20 metric hours/day
100 metric minutes/metric hour
100 metric seconds/metric minute
10 days/metric week
30 days/metric month
12 metric months/year (they couldn't fix that)
5.245 extra vacation days each year.
Nobody liked it because there were fewer weekends than the calendar they were used to. |
